A Machine To See With

I am on the Blast Theory mailing list and this latest email makes me wish I was in the UK during September. Their latest new media work A Machine to See With looks very interesting, participatory and fun to experience. It puts you in the middle of a bank robbery!

From their press release…….

Following its UK premiere at 2011 Edinburgh Fringe, A Machine To See With now comes to Brighton for the Brighton Digital Festival, opening on 1st September.

Blending secret missions and high adrenalin, you are in an interactive heist movie on the streets of the city, playing the lead.

A Machine To See With is a work for pedestrians and their mobile phones. Book your ticket, provide your phone number and on the day receive a phone call with instructions directing you to your starting point. A man’s voice then leads you through the city and into a heist movie; you are the protagonist, as you move from hiding money to meeting up with a partner in crime and onwards to the bank, the tension rises. You must deal with a bank robbery and it’s aftermath.

A Machine To See With mixes thriller clichés with the reality of the urban environment and explores the tyranny of choice and the financial crisis.
