Boka Bon Chon Wings, East Village NYC

I don’t recommend food all that often but I found this place in East Village with excellent Korean style spicy hot wings and drum sticks. It’s called Boka, and they serve a crispy version of Korean Bon Chon style wings.

I ordered mine extra spicy in spite of the barmaid warning me not to do that. In her defense, I realize that I am a big white nerd and  I did see a table where a wuss returned the wings due to too much hotness. After I insisted, she delivered the good stuff. The wings have been spot on both times I have visited this restaurant. That said, if you are faint of heart, don’t ask for the extra spicy.

We have had Bon Chon wings at our local H-Mart for some time but they are just not the same as what they are doing at Boka. Boka’s version are cooked to perfection, crispy, crunchy on the outside but tender on the inside and spicy with a hint of sweetness. I highly recommend them!

Boka also has a full Korean menu, members of our party the first time we visited Boka tried the short ribs which were good, the kimchi soup was also awesome and I had the spicy pork. My spicy pork was not so spicy but pretty good never the less.

The wings and drum sticks at Boka are some of the best I have ever had. If you are nearby go try them!
