Love, relationships, timing and the 1980s arcade game Star Castle

A few days ago I was having a discussion with a single friend of mine on how love, new relationships and timing are like the 1980 arcade game Star Castle.

If you skip ahead to about 5 or 6 minutes into the video that is kind of what it is like. You must have all the holes in the walls you have blasted through aligned perfectly so there is an opening and you must avoid all the incoming missiles. You must do all of this before more walls are generated. Sounds like a new relationship to me.

19 year old makes solar death ray

Timon Singh at inhabitat has written an entertaining article about student Eric Jacqmain who has assembled over 5,800 mirrors into his own parabolic ‘solar Death Ray’.

This has to be one of the most impressive science projects I have seen since the one I did back in the 80′s that also melted metal and burnt stuff quite nicely. Mine was made out of a 3ft x3ft fresnel lens. Mr. Jacqmain’s does better than mine in that it is clearly turning mud and cement into glass, mine did not get that hot.

The Reverend

Well I am snowed in here in Texas today and that is a good excuse to try out a new beer. Today I chose wisely.

The Reverend, by Avery Brewing company in Boulder Colorado, is a Belgian style Quadrupel Ale. Avery Brewing specializes in craft beers that are strong.

The Reverend is much more amber than my Blackberry camera was able to capture, it is much more light clear light reddish. It is super smooth and is slightly sweet with hints of cherry and caramel. It packs some punch with 10% ABV.

I picked this one up at World Market and highly recommend it!
